Sound booth photographs.

The sounds we made:

ticking- clock

breathing

screaming

water- water tank

scraping of porcelain- broken dolls foot

smash light bulb

smash mirror

growling

playing with smashed glass

wind- blowing into the microphone

heartbeat- lightly tapping the microphone.

when record ing these sounds we experimented with the distance away from the microphone to figure out what distance was best for optimum clarity and also to see if there was any unexpected distortions.

Whilst on set i quickly brought up some images from the Internet and put them together as different scenarios to project to see what they would look like. at the time we didn't have a white backdrop to project them on, so we found a plinth and decided to project the furnishings separately from different projectors onto separate plinths/objects.




These are photographs of the set up of the filming of the boat animation and also the object pictures which we were going to animate.

Lighting experiments

For the lighting we experimented weather to have two red heads or just one, we decided on just one to produce a strong line of shadow. also it produced a kind of spotlight effect and didn't light up the whole room. we felt it singled out the scene from the situation of the massive function hall. we realised that this produced a very high contrast image and some over exposure... to reduce this we used a bounce light to fill in the shadows slightly. other alternatives to a bounce light that we used was a white board and also a white background to bounce the light from.
